1. Brief Introduction
LOYALTY-SECU Vehicle License Plate Recognition (VLPR) is an application of computer video image recognition technology in vehicle license plate recognition. License plate recognition is widely used in highway vehicle management. In the electronic toll collection (ETC) system, it is also the main means of identifying vehicle identity combined with DSRC technology.
License plate recognition technology requires the ability to extract and recognize the vehicle license plate in motion from a complex background. Through license plate extraction, image preprocessing, feature extraction, license plate character recognition and other technologies, the vehicle license plate number, color and other information can be recognized. The current technology for the recognition rate of letters and numbers can reach to 99.7%.
The Automatic License Plate Recognition technology is combined with the electronic toll collection system (ETC) to recognize vehicles. When passing vehicles pass through the crossing, they do not need to stop, it can realize the automatic identification of vehicle identity and automatic charging. In the parking lot management, in order to improve the efficiency of entrance and exit vehicles, license plate recognition is aimed at vehicles that do not need to charge parking fees (such as monthly trucks, internal free vehicles), and build unmanned fast lanes, free of cards, and no need to stop the vehicle experience, working on changing the management mode of entering and exiting the parking lot.
Our LY-ALR-003 ALPR Camera adds a bigger size display screen to display basic information of vehicle at the entrance and exit based on LY-ALR-002 to form a complete basic ANPR solution to meet the basic demands of license plate recognition function. Meanwhile, LY-ALR-003 embeds the fill light in the chassis, and easy to install.

3. Main Function of Hardware Components
ALPR Camera System: it mainly captures pictures, which are sent to the software for recognition. There are two ways to trigger the camera to capture pictures. One is that the camera itself has a head-detection function, and the other is that the car is triggered by the ground sense coil and vehicle detector when vehicle pass to capture the picture.
Column: the column and the appearance of the product are formed by cold-rolled iron sheet, strong and waterproof.
Fill light: With an automatic light sense < 30Lux, the light will be automatically opened according to the surrounding environment of the project site, and will remain bright until the supplementary light detects that the surrounding environment becomes brighter, and the light sense will be automatically closed when it is greater than 30Lux.

4. Main function of ANPR/ALPR System

ANPR software manages the whole parking lots from entrance and exit to charging, like control vehicle barriers, gates, traffic lights, and message signs etc.
Set the charging rules of the parking lot, limited free time parking, parking fee charge rule via cash or coin or credit card, then system will charge them automatically as per setting rule, such as the first three hours being free which reverts to paid parking for longer stays automatically.
Provide the real-time reports on vehicle license plate, journey times, stay times, flow rates and entry/exit balance, and the vehicle alerts can be sent by email or text message.
ALPR Camera with Software supports vehicle license plate registration and inquiry, keeps a record of live and historical car park data usage, and forms a traffic report for easy parking lots management.

5. The Workflow of ANPR Solution
Process description:
Entry: the ALPR Camera for Parking Guidance captures an image by means of vehicle head detection or loop coil trigger or camera detector, and the image is transmitted to the software.
The software algorithm recognizes the image, writes the recognition result into the database and returns it to the camera, and the camera sends the switch signal to barrier switch.
Exit: the ALPR Camera with Software captures an image by means of vehicle head detection or loop coil trigger or camera detector, and the image is transmitted to the software.
The Automatic License Plate Recognition algorithm recognizes the image, outputs the recognition result and compares it with the entrance recognition result in the database. The comparison is successful and the result is returned to the camera.

9. Different Installation Environment
If there is a distance of 4-5 meters before entering the slope, it is recommended that the entrance and exit be installed before entering the slope. Please be careful to avoid backlighting.
If there is not enough distance, the equipment can be disassembled to choose a suitable installation location. Confirming the camera’s recognition distance of 4-5 meters, and adjust the camera’s elevation or depression to ensure that the license plate is displayed horizontally in the lens. Generally, the angle of a straight slope does not exceed 15%, and the angle of a curved ramp does not exceed 12%. During construction, the installation angle of the camera can be adjusted according to the angle of the slope.
The position of the ground sensing coil and the vehicle detector in the slope can be constructed according to the texture of the slope. If the site conditions permit, the ground sensing coil should be constructed on a level ground as much as possible.
If the camera‘s position is somewhere above the slope, then two reduction gear should be installed at 6 and 7 meters from the camera’s horizontal line to ensure that the vehicle’s travel speed is less than 30km / h. At the exit, the installation principles are similar, but only one reduction gear is required at 6 meters.
